About Us

What To Expect When Visiting

At the Carlinville Church of Christ, you will be welcomed into a warm and friendly group of people who love God, love one another, and seek to follow Jesus Christ together. Our aim is to be simply Christians, patterned after the church described in the New Testament, striving to follow the teaching of the apostles and the example they left for us (Acts 2:42; 2 Thessalonians 2:15).

When you visit, you can expect a time of sincere worship and encouragement centered on God’s Word. Our worship follows the simple and

meaningful pattern we see in the New Testament:

  • A cappella Singing – We lift our voices together in song, praising God without instrumental accompaniment, just as the early Christians did (Ephesians 5:19; Colossians 3:16). This allows every person to participate fully in offering heartfelt worship to the Lord.
  • Prayer – Together, we bring our needs, thanksgiving, and praises before God. Prayer was a constant practice of the first church (Acts 2:42; 1 Thessalonians 5:17), and we continue to seek God’s guidance and blessing in all things.
  • Preaching – The message you hear will come from Scripture, as we believe the Bible is God’s inspired Word and our guide for life (2 Timothy 3:16–17). Preaching proclaims the good news of Jesus Christ and encourages us to walk faithfully with Him (Romans 10:14–15).
  • The Lord’s Supper – Each Sunday we share in communion, remembering the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus (Acts 20:7; 1 Corinthians 11:23–26). This is a time of reflection and gratitude for Christ’s sacrifice and a proclamation of our hope until He comes again.

We strive to keep our worship focused on God, simple, and true to the apostolic pattern given in the New Testament. Most of all, we want you to know that you are welcome here. Whether you have been following Christ for many years or are just beginning to ask questions about faith, you will find a caring family eager to walk alongside you.
